Day 2 of 120 — The Christmas Body Countdown
120 Days to Christmas • The Journey Continues
Leave the Cults You Didn't Know You'd Joined
Not the ones you're picturing. The quiet ones.
Yesterday was about honesty. Today's about acting on it, at least in your head. Because once you're honest about what's not working, you start noticing something — a lot of what's not working isn't random. It's coming from somewhere. Or someone.
A cult doesn't have to be robes and candles. It can just be a family member who's decided who you're allowed to be.
When I say "cults," I don't mean the obvious ones. I mean any relationship or dynamic that comes with unspoken rules, a role you're expected to play, a version of you that keeps everyone else comfortable but was never actually yours. Toxic family. Friend groups you've outgrown. Old beliefs you inherited but never chose. Anything quietly deciding your life for you instead of letting you live the one you actually want.
STEP ONE
Name what's actually running the show
Is there someone, or something, that gets a vote on your life that you never actually gave them? A parent, an old friendship, a family "role" you've been playing since you were a kid? Name it. Just to yourself, for now.
STEP TWO
Feel what's real — don't analyse it
You don't need to work out whose fault a feeling is, or where it came from, or pick it apart until it makes sense. Just feel it. If something feels bad, let it be bad, without needing a full explanation before you're allowed to trust it.
STEP THREE
Ask if it's earning its place
Everything in your life should be earning its place there, the same way you're earning your body. If a relationship or a habit isn't adding anything, isn't kind, isn't honest — it doesn't get a free pass just because it's familiar.
You're not being asked to burn anything down today. Just to notice. Once you can see the cult for what it is, you can't quite un-see it — and that's how it starts to lose its grip.
119 days left. Keep going.
Love, Vikki
