Day 3 of 120: Love Over Transaction

120 Days to Christmas • The Journey Continues
Love Over Transaction
Love has to come first. The transaction never creates it.
Here's the line people get backwards: contribution before love isn't love. It's a transaction. If someone's giving, performing, or showing up for you only in the hope that love follows, that's not love arriving late, that's a deal being made.
Contribution before love is a transaction, not love. Love has to come first, or it was never really love at all.
You can feel the difference. Love first feels safe. Nobody's keeping score, nobody's earning their place, trust just grows because there's nothing hidden underneath. Contribution first feels like walking on eggshells, conditional, tense, like you're one mistake away from the deal being off. One is connection. The other is a transaction wearing love's clothes.
STEP ONE
Look at how you show up for people
Are you offering care because you genuinely want to, or because you're quietly expecting something back? Be honest, not harsh, just honest.
STEP TWO
Look at how people show up for you
Does their support come with strings, even unspoken ones? Do you feel valued for who you are, or for what you can do for them?
STEP THREE
Choose love first, on purpose
You don't have to overhaul every relationship today. Just start noticing the difference, and start leaning towards the people, and the version of yourself, that leads with love rather than a ledger.
