Self Love Saturday: The Radical Act of Being on Your Own Side
Every Saturday is a good reminder of something most of us forget during the week.
To be on our own side.
Not in a selfish, arrogant, “I’m amazing and everyone else is wrong” kind of way.
Just in a simple human way.
The kind where you stop talking to yourself like a disappointed headteacher and start treating yourself like someone you actually care about.
Because here’s the strange thing.
Most people would never speak to a friend the way they speak to themselves.
You missed a goal?
You made a mistake?
You said something awkward five years ago that your brain still replays at 2:14am?
Your mind jumps in immediately with criticism.
But what if — just for today — you tried something different?
No judgement.
Not pretending everything is perfect.
Just accepting that you are a work in progress like every other human on this slightly chaotic planet.
Self love doesn’t mean you think you’re flawless.
It simply means you stop acting like you’re the enemy.
And once you stop fighting yourself, something interesting happens.
Life becomes a little lighter.
And progress becomes a lot easier.
So if you do one thing this Saturday, try this:
Speak to yourself the way you would speak to someone you genuinely want to see succeed.
You might be surprised how powerful that simple shift can be.
Because the most important relationship you will ever have…
Is the one you have with yourself.
