The Identity Crash After You Stop Surviving
(Now Featuring Confusion, Snacks, and Zero Clarity)
You did it.
You escaped chaos.
You stopped fixing everyone.
You blocked the people.
And now?
You’re just… standing there.
No fires.
No emergencies.
No one emotionally bleeding in your inbox.
Your brain immediately panics and says:
“OK BUT WHAT IS MY PURPOSE.”
Phase 1: The Suspicious Calm
Everything is quiet and you’re like:
- Why is no one upset?
- Why am I not needed?
- Why do I feel like I’ve forgotten something important?
You check your phone.
Nothing.
You check again.
Still nothing.
You start walking around your house like a haunted Victorian child.
Phase 2: You realise your personality was 90% crisis management
Without chaos, you ask:
- What do I like?
- What do I do for fun?
- Who am I when no one is imploding?
Your brain offers no answers.
Just vibes.
And mild hunger.
Phase 3: You consider becoming a
new person
This is the dangerous stage.
You briefly consider:
- yoga
- running
- journaling
- cold plunges
- being “low maintenance”
You google hobbies.
You immediately need a nap.
Abort.
Phase 4: Boredom arrives and you treat it like a threat
Boredom shows up and you’re like:
“EXCUSE ME.
WHAT ARE YOUR INTENTIONS.”
Because historically, boredom meant:
Something bad was about to happen.
Now it just means:
Nothing is happening.
Rude.
Phase 5: You miss chaos and feel ashamed
You think:
“Do I… miss stress?”
No.
You miss being occupied.
You were booked, busy, and emotionally employed.
Now you’re freelance with no clients.
Phase 6: You start doing pointless things (THIS IS PROGRESS)
You:
- laugh at memes for too long
- walk with no destination
- eat snacks at inappropriate times
- enjoy something without explaining why
Your nervous system is like:
“Wait.
This feels illegal but nice.”
Correct.
Phase 7: Your personality slowly respawns
One day you:
- laugh out loud for real
- say no without sweating
- forget to fix something and don’t die
- enjoy silence
- feel oddly… fine
And you think:
“Oh my god.
I’m back.
And I’m kind of hilarious.”
The big reveal
You didn’t lose your identity.
You just never had time to install one
because you were too busy being
Everyone Else’s Emergency Contact.
This isn’t a breakdown.
It’s the loading screen.
Please wait.

Final note
If you’re confused, bored, laughing randomly, and wondering what you’re doing with your life—
Congratulations.
You’re not broken.
You’re finally off duty.
And honestly?
That’s funny as hell. 😌
