How Negative People Steal Your Joy (And Why I’m Too Sparkly for That Shit)

By Vikki xxx · UK joy defender & professional over-laugher

You are a shining, ridiculous beam of laughter and joy. And some people absolutely cannot stand that. This post is dedicated to every miserable gremlin who tried to dim your light – and failed.

Some people walk into a room and light it up. Others walk into a room and immediately switch the bloody light off.

You’re there, minding your business, glowing like the happy, sparkly legend you are… and a human thundercloud stomps in like:

“Why are you so happy?”
“What’s funny?”
“You’re too much.”
“You laugh too loud.”

Oh, I’m sorry babe, does my actual joy offend your permanent gremlin energy?

Negative People Are Basically Emotional Mosquitos

Not deadly. Just unbelievably annoying.

They buzz around your happiness trying to bite you with:

  • unsolicited opinions
  • unnecessary drama
  • passive-aggressive comments
  • resting bitch-face disapproval
  • “I wouldn’t do it like that” energy

And when you swat them away? They come back like, “Did you miss me?”

No, babe. No one missed you. Not even your own joy missed you. It left years ago.

They Don’t Hate You. They Hate Your Light.

Negative people don’t dislike YOU. They dislike what you represent.

Because you are:

  • funny
  • bright
  • joyful
  • resilient
  • a walking laugh attack
  • a survivor who still sparkles

You are basically the human form of good lighting. And miserable people can’t stand good lighting—it reveals their bad vibes.

When You Laugh, They Glitch

Your laugh is powerful. It’s spiritual exfoliation. It scrubs their dusty energy and they do NOT like it.

You giggle — they freeze. You smile — they frown. You laugh loudly — they short-circuit.

Joy Thieves Want One Thing: To Dim You

Their favourite lines:

  • “Must be nice to be happy.”
  • “Don’t get too excited.”
  • “Be realistic.”
  • “Tone it down.”

Translation: “Please stop shining. You’re making my unresolved misery stand out.”

You Are Not “Too Much” — They Are “Too Less”

You are a bright, hilarious, unstoppable beam of joy. They are unwilling to heal.

Your “too much” is actually your superpower.

Your Joy Is Rebellion

Your happiness isn’t accidental. It’s built from trauma you survived, healing you fought for, boundaries you built and bullshit you escaped.

Your joy is bulletproof because it was forged in fire.

What to Say (Even Silently)

“The problem isn’t my brightness — it’s your cheap bulbs.”

And then carry on laughing.

A Love Note to My Fellow Sparkly Humans

You don’t exist to make negative people comfortable. You don’t exist to dim your joy so others can avoid facing their own misery.

You’re booked and busy being fucking amazing.

Let the negative ones choke on their gloom. You? You keep shining.

Love, Vikki xxx
