You Deserve Love, Safety, and Respect — A Note for Children of Narcissistic Parents
You Deserve Love, Safety, and Respect
A short note for every child (and grown-up child) of a narcissistic parent.

If you grew up with a narcissistic parent, here’s what you probably learned too early: love felt conditional, safety felt rare, and respect felt like something you had to earn.
You deserve love not because of what you do, but because of who you are. Their inability to love you properly was never a reflection of your worth. It was a reflection of their damage. Never confuse the two.
Real love looks like:
- hugs that don’t come with strings
- kind words that don’t turn into punches later
- safety you can breathe inside
- respect that doesn’t vanish when you say “no”
- peace that doesn’t need you to shrink
If your parent couldn’t give you that, it doesn’t mean you didn’t deserve it. It means they didn’t know how to be safe.
So here’s your reminder — simple, stubborn, and true:
I’m sending you a massive, warm, non-awkward hug through the screen. The kind that says: “I believe you. I see you. You’re not alone.”
