Overheard on the Train: The Future of Pensions According to Teenagers
So I’m sitting on the train yesterday, minding my own business, when a group of 18-year-olds start talking about retirement.
(Yes. RETIREMENT. At 18. I couldn’t help but giggle.)
One girl says, in all seriousness :
“When I retire, I’ll get a pension.”
And without missing a beat, her mate goes:
“You won’t get a pension with this government. You’ll have to retire when you’re about 100.”
At this point I’m silently smirking because — accurate.
But then a boy jumps in with:
“If you wanna retire early, just marry a 60-year-old. You only have to have sex once a month and they’ll look after you for life.”
Trying to keep the laughter to myself…
The poor girl looked horrified and said:
“That’s disgusting — he’d be older than my parents!”
And honestly, I couldn’t stop laughing under my own breath.
They’ve already cracked the secret formula for modern survival:
no pension, no plan, just vibes and questionable life hacks.
