The Company You Keep Matters More Than the Place You’re In
You could be anywhere in the world — sipping cocktails on a beach in Bali, hiking through the Swiss Alps, or sitting in a cosy little café in Paris. Sounds dreamy, right? But here’s the catch: if you’re with the wrong people, it won’t feel like a dream. It’ll feel like a nightmare dressed up in pretty scenery.
The truth is, the people around you can either amplify your joy or completely drain it. A holiday with someone who moans non-stop? Miserable. A dinner with someone who makes you feel small? Awkward. A road trip with a friend who controls the music, the vibe, and basically your entire mood? Torture.
But flip it the other way. You could be sitting on a grotty park bench, eating soggy chips out of the wrapper, and if you’re with people who make you laugh until your stomach hurts, it’s magic. You could be broke, tired, or having the worst week of your life — and the right company can still make it feel bearable, even beautiful.
So maybe the secret to a “good life” isn’t about where you go, what you buy, or how Instagram-worthy your surroundings are. Maybe it’s about curating your circle. Choosing to spend time with people who bring you peace, joy, and genuine connection. People who celebrate your wins, hold you when you’re down, and never make you feel like you have to shrink to fit in.
Because in the end, the scenery fades, the trips end, the photos gather dust — but the way someone made you feel? That sticks.
