Parenting Fails That Actually Make You Feel Alive
Going to the supermarket with a teenager is like entering a survival game you didn’t sign up for.
I went in with a sensible, healthy trolley: a pack of grapes, strawberries, berries, peaches, vegetables, bottled water… plus teabags, toilet roll, Lenor softener, and of course, some wine (for obvious reasons).
Fast forward 20 minutes: the grapes are gone, the strawberries have disappeared, berries and peaches devoured, and the edible vegetables? Obliterated. Bottled water? Emptied. The only things left standing in my trolley like sad little soldiers: teabags, toilet roll, Lenor… and luckily, the wine.
I paid for a trolley full of empty packages and slightly bruised memories of fruit. The wine is safe… for now. But I have no doubt it will vanish in a few years, probably in some mysterious teenage fermentation experiment.
Parenting a teenager in a supermarket: it’s chaos, it’s hilarious, and it’s a harsh reminder that your perfectly healthy plans are just suggestions. The edible stuff is gone before you even reach the checkout, but hey… you survived. And you might even get a sip of wine when you finally make it home.
