A 2025 Cambridge study, interviewing eighteen women with sustained attachment to abusive partners, found something sharper underneath that: the closeness itself is often deliberately constructed early on, specifically so it can be exploited later. Why do people make fun of others

 If someone makes fun of you, it is because of their own insecurities. 

Their basically not happy with their own life and want to make you miserable too. 

The best thing you can do in this situation is to not let it get you down.  instead make it, make you,  a better person. 

You’ve got to learn from these situations that you will be better than these bullies and grow every time you encounter them and not fade into the background. After all you are the better person.
