Your Brain on Money

Ever wonder why your brain sometimes makes you spend money without thinking? Or why saving feels so hard? Your brain is secretly running the show—but the good news is, you can train it… with a pen.

Yep. You read that right.

Welcome to the Brain + Money Book—a way to see how your brain thinks about money, and to learn as you color. 🎨💰

Why This is Smart!

  • Coloring helps you remember – When you draw and color, your brain locks in new ideas.
  • Money can be fun, not scary – No boring charts here!
  • See how your brain works – Learn why you feel happy, nervous, or excited when you spend or save.

Easy Sketch: “Neuron Coins”

Think of a neuron like a little messenger in your brain, sending money signals. Here’s how to draw it simply:

  1. Draw a circle for the neuron.
  2. Draw short lines sticking out (dendrites) and one long line going out (axon).
  3. Draw tiny coins or dots at the end of the long line—these are the “money messages.”

  1. Add an arrow to show the coins moving.

Next

  • Budget Brain: Draw a brain split into “Spending,” “Saving,” and “Investing” areas. Color them differently.
  • Money Pathways: Draw a road from your brain to a goal (like a holiday or emergency fund). Add obstacles like little “debt monsters.”
  • Reward & Temptation: Draw happy faces for good saving, grumpy faces for impulse spending.

Challenge

Grab a pen or pencil, draw one neuron sending coins, and see how your brain “thinks” about money. Share your drawing if you want—I’d love to see your Brain + Money adventure!

Learning about money doesn’t have to be boring. With a little color and imagination, your brain—and your wallet—can get stronger every day.
