Rest Is My New Personality
Rest Is My New Personality
By Vikki
Once upon a time, my personality was “productive.” People would say things like:
- “You’re always doing something!”
- “You’re always so busy!”
- “How do you get so much done?”
Now my personality is: “I’m tired, leave me alone, I’m horizontal and proud.”
I’m Not Lazy, I Just Don’t Want to be Exhausted Anymore
I spent years proving I’m capable. Now I’m proving I’m allowed to rest.
Honestly, resting might be the most rebellious thing I’ve ever done.
Things That Now Define My Personality
- being cosy
- protecting my peace
- naps
- lying down
- saying “no thanks”
- staring into space as a lifestyle
I’m not burnt out. I’m healing. Big difference.
What I Used To Think Rest Was:
- wasting time
- being unproductive
- falling behind
- a sign of weakness
What I Now Know Rest Is:
- recharging your nervous system
- reclaiming your energy
- choosing your health
- giving your brain a moment to breathe
I Don’t Feel Guilty Anymore
Rest is not something you earn after collapsing.
It’s something you practice regularly so you don’t collapse in the first place.
Things I Will Happily Cancel For Rest
- plans
- calls
- messages
- errands
- other people’s expectations
Sorry, but I’m in a long-term committed relationship with my bed now.
Rest Looks Like Nothing — but Feels Like Everything
When you slow down long enough to breathe, your body starts remembering what safety feels like.
Rest = healing.
Doing nothing = doing something powerful.
Signs Rest Has Become Your Personality
- you’re happy doing nothing
- you nap like it’s a hobby
- you prioritise comfort over productivity
- you stop apologising for needing space
- your new life motto is: “Not today.”
I Choose Calm Now
Call me boring. Call me lazy. Call me grandma energy.
I don’t care.
Being rested feels better than being impressive.
Your turn: If rest was a personality trait, what would yours be?
Comment: “Rest is my superpower.”
