How I’m Letting My Body Heal (and How You Can Too)

By Vikki!

Lately, I’ve been sleeping a lot. I slept 7½ hours last night, then another 2½-hour nap this mo —and honestly? I needed it. For the first time in a long time, I’ve stopped feeling guilty about resting.

Burnout isn’t just mental. It’s physical. It’s emotional. And when your body says, “Stop,” it means it. For years, I’ve kept myself busy to avoid feeling the weight of everything I’ve carried. But now I’m choosing something new. I’m choosing to let my body repair.

If you’re feeling burnt out—emotionally drained, physically exhausted, or like you’re just going through the motions—I want to share some of the things I’m doing to gently support my healing.

1.

Letting Myself Sleep (Without Shame)

If your body wants to rest, let it. Deep healing happens in sleep. For me, naps aren’t laziness anymore—they’re repair work. Your nervous system needs time to reset.

2.

Eating Food That Loves Me Back

No diets. No rules. Just food that feels grounding, warm, and nourishing. I aim for whole foods—veggies, fruit, protein, good fats—but I also eat for comfort. Healing food should feel like a hug.

3.

Drinking Water Like It’s Medicine

I keep a big water bottle nearby and add lemon or a pinch of sea salt for minerals. Trauma and stress dehydrate us more than we realise.

4.

Moving My Body Gently

This isn’t about workouts. It’s about walking, stretching, and sometimes just dancing around my kitchen in slippers. Movement reminds me I’m alive—it shakes the stress out, bit by bit.

5.

Doing Less. Saying No. Recharging More.

I’ve cut down on stimulation—less noise, less social media, fewer energy-draining conversations. I’m choosing softness over hustle. Peace over people-pleasing.

6.

Letting the Emotions Out

Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I write. Sometimes I just sit with a cup of tea and feel whatever shows up. That’s the work. Bottled-up emotions will live in your body until you let them move.

7.

Comfort Is a Healing Tool

I wrap myself in soft blankets. I wear cozy socks. I take baths with Epsom salts. Anything that tells my body, “You’re safe now,” is medicine.

Burnout isn’t weakness. It’s your body begging for gentleness.

You don’t need to push through it. You need to surrender to healing—and I promise, that’s where your strength lives.

If you’re feeling the same, start small. One nap. One glass of water. One deep breath. One “no” to something that drains you.

And maybe, just maybe, you’ll start to feel like yourself again.
